Most people are impatient. They decide they want something and they want it NOW!

We live in a world where unless we can have what we want straightaway, we lose interest very quickly. Where is this more true than eating effectively for fat loss?

Fat loss requires a 90% compliance to healthy eating. Any less and you're falling short.

You need to stick with an effective and nutritious plan of eating long enough to gauge change in your body and your general wellbeing.

1 week of being sensible is not enough!

If you're carrying substantial levels of body fat then you'll be well aware that it didn't arrive overnight. Your body fat required months, maybe years of cultivation! It could well take a while to get to where you want to be, physically.

Too many people drop off the healthy eating wagon, long before they give it a chance to take effect. They add a couple of healthier options to their current diet, like the odd bit of fruit, or vegetables with their evening meal, but more often than not continue to be tempted by the elements that really put the brakes on their fat burning efforts. They still have that glass or two of wine in the evening, they eat high sugar snacks during the day and they wonder why they don't seem to be making any headway.

If you don't stick with an effective and healthy nutrition plan long enough to see how reducing certain foods affects your weight, your stools, your skin or your energy levels, you'll end up spending the rest of your life wondering why you feel so AWFUL!

Stick with my 10 rules of effective eating and you will stay on track:

1. Eat breakfast every day
2. Drink water throughout the day - aim for approximately 2 liters
3. Eat every 3 hours - smaller portions
4. Eat vegetables with every main meal and fruit with snacks
5. Eat 5-6 times a day - thats right! Remember; smaller portions...
6. Eat protein every time you eat - meat, fish, egg, peanut butter, nuts (in small amounts)
7. Have a coffee first thing, then switch to redbush or fruit teas, if you want hot drinks
8. Avoid sugar filled snacks
9. Reduce the amount of processed, packaged food in your diet. Try and eat fresh
10. Don't beat yourself up if you slip up. Simply get back on track at your next meal.

Thats it! Take one rule at a time and make it a part of your everyday eating pattern. Once you have one change in place, move on to another. Within a few weeks your diet will have improved, along with your energy levels and your weight. Isn't a few weeks of restraint worth a lifetime of vitality? Be patient - the results will come.

Cut the Sugary Drinks
You just have to look at the labels to know that when you drink a soda or even most fruit juices you are putting on the fat. Sugar will turn to fat. Really educate yourself about this.

Watch Your Portion Sizes
This is very important. Most of us have been programmed to see a meal as an event a much larger event then we need or want. Re educate yourself on what is ideal or required to fuel yourself. Don't go by what you have been taught by the media or the portions the restaurants serve you. 2/3 of your meal should be live energy foods like fruits and vegetables.

Do not Skip Meals
This is essential as well. Keeping your blood sugar levels from spiking up and dropping will allow you body not to store energy in the form of fat. Small amount of healthy foods spread through out the day. This is one of the many tricks that body builders use and have used for years to drop weight and be as lean as they possible can be before a competition. Studies have also shown this to be on of the most effective methods of achieving and maintaining your ideal health weight.

Go for wholesome fresh foods
We have all been programmed by the media to buy products that aren't a real food anymore after they have been processed and packaged. Wholesome foods are generally not processed fresh as in fruits and vegetables, fresh fish and whole grains.

Here are 5 examples of wholesome foods:
1. Greens
2. Berries
3. Soy
4. Salmon
5. Whole Grains

Don't be overly-restrictive
Treat yourself as rewards just do it in smaller portions and wiser choices. Find a healthier substitute or replacement for you favorite treats. Slowly and steadily replace your treats with healthier live energy choices.

Understand Food Claims and Labels
A great question to ask you is why do companies need to have food labels in the first place. One of the most obvious reasons is to allow people with allergies or food restrictions to avoid potentially dangerous foods for them. However isn't it also so that the product producers can be held accountable for a good quality product? Learn about these labels and understand them.

Keep a food journal
This will give you a great visual and list of items to work on. Many people are surprised by the food and the amounts they consumed. Log everything down foods times and amounts. Review this after a week; invest some time into it you will really have an understanding of where you can improve.

Eat at least 5 servings of fruits and vegetables per day
You will fill fuller and have more energy by doing this. Make it a priority to do these and you will find that the unhealthy foods do not have any room in you diet.

There are 2 types of energies that you get from foods live energy and dead energy. The live energy comes from food and sources that are alive fruits, vegetables and grains. Dead energy comes from source that are processed and packaged. Better fuel = more fun and excitement.

Find out how many calories you need
When you do this you will also gain an understanding of what your activity level is and how much is really needed to fuel it.

McDonald's marketed a product to us. They researched and developed their product, the way the fries taste and smelled while cooking and the way that they presented the product through grouping it and up selling it at the time of ordering.

McDonalds marketed to our children not just us. Now we are approached by a source that they enlisted to assist in selling a product to us. This source is near and dear to us our children and we all know how persistent our children can be. Was that ever a highly effective marketing move on there parts. WOW

So just keep in mind that you have been educated to believe what you believe to be food at this point. So it is time top reeducate you. You will want to learn the truth from a qualified individual that has your interests in mind, stop learning from the marketing firms and product pushers.
